OUT OF THE BLUE
A staged reading using the words of First Responders to the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

01
NYPD Affiliation
During the last week of August 2001, I took the written and physical exams to become an NYPD Auxiliary officer. A few days later I received a letter in the mail telling me I had passed, and giving me instructions to report to One Police Plaza to secure my badge and have my photo taken.
02
The Attacks
On the morning of September 11, 2001 the World Trade Center was the target of an attack, with 2 Boeing 767 jets crashing into first the North Tower, and then the South Tower. The NYPD issued an "all hands on deck" Level 4 Mobilization. Everyone in the uniformed services had to report - including me.

The Aftermath
In the aftermath of the September 11 attacks, uniformed services, emergency workers and volunteers from all over the world went to Ground Zero to be part of the rescue/recovery effort. I was lucky enough to interview about 20 of these brave men and women.
04
The Interviews
Because of my work with NYPD I was able to locate several people who were willing (and eager) to tell their stories. Those people in turn referred me to others, who were also anxious to unburden themselves, and tell what they witnessed, and what they and did at Ground Zero.

The Result
A moving, poignant, and emotional presentation performed by local actors, using direct quotes from the First Responders.
